Well when I was there it was the majority of the shops but the resorts did only three, just shop around and enjoy

Our LDS spent a week at the Utila Lodge in Nov. Generally they did 3 dives a day. On one day, per request, we did 4 dives. They plan one or two night dives a week. As I understand, there is diving off of the pier but nobody did that. It was a great time. May be worth asking them.

Laguna Beach does a two tank in the morning and a one tank in the afternoon. On the way back in the afternoon, you can also opt for the "drop dive". They drop you and it's an easy 45 minute nav/swim to the resort. Night dives are twice a week and there is unlimited shore diving. One couple did five a couple times but four was plenty for us. It certainly makes for a good nights sleep.

Cross Creek does 4 dives a day as well as its sister company Utila Dive Centre. 2 early AM and 2 at 1 o'clock PM. A package of 10 dives will run about $275 or so, maybe less. I just got back from diving with them for 5 weeks and had a great time. Mango inn does a sleep and dive package with UDC so ask them as well.

All the dive centers on Utila do 4 dives a day. A morning depart between 7am and 8am, two dives with surface interval on the boat, returning by around 12pm to 12:30pm latest. Boats depart again between 1pm and 1:30pm for two more dives. The resorts generally do 3 dives per day (plus night dives), with optional shore diving if you want more (but ask, shore diving is not available from at all resorts).

How much the dive center charges for it's fun dive packages will pretty much tell you how far you'll travel and how diverse your dive sites will be. For example, if you want to see the north side of the island every day then don't go budget. Fuel costs money! Diving is pretty good all round the island, but north side is whale shark territory and has the marine reserves, etc.
