Here's an option that might work. You will need the following gear:
1. A dedicated surface support ship
2. Full-face mask with communicator to talk to said ship.
3. Rebreather.
4. DPV to get out of Dodge quickly.
5. Paint-based depth charges.
6. A straight face so that your buddy will suspect nothing!
