Dr. Deco (or anyone who knows),

We were told in PADI OWD class not to exercise vigorously after diving. Question 1.) Why? and question 2.) what metric should we use to determine when it is safe to exercise again (i.e. swim laps or moderate jogging)?

Thanks,

Toe

Hello Toecutter:

I would estimate that the time between surfacing and vigorous exercise should be four to five times the longest half time involved in recreational scuba diving, i.e., sixty minutes. Thus a waiting time of 5 x 60 [min] would be 300 minutes or five hours. :sprite10:
