Has anyone used VivaAerobus from Austin to Cancun? I am in the airline business but I am leery of foreign lowcost carriers. Curious to anyone's experiences.

We used them in August on a flight to Cancun. They are located in the other terminal at Austin Bergstrom, so it is not crowded at all. There are not any reserved seats on the plane, but we were on time going and returning.

We used them last year and it was all good... For $165 r/t to cancun I joke I will load my own luggage... We are using them again in Feb and will use them again and again if it means we can do COZ for 5 days for about $1,200 including diving...

I used them in June. It went well. flights were late coming and going but what airlines not. It is a short flight but they have food and drinks avalaible to buy. The boarding is confusing to everyone, A,B,C,P for priorty but all B and C hear their letters, so what ever. First come first serve boarding is a pain.

That is the reason we will pay the $5 to board priority next time we fly with VA. Took the flight to CUN in May without any problems. One thing that is very nice, VA uses Terminal 2 in Cancun while most of the other international carriers have moved to Terminal 3. That leaves all the infrastructure for Immigration and Customs in Terminal 2 virtually unused. We cleared both in less than 15 minutes.

First it looks like they have cut fares again which is good, I think?? Also, since everyone else has moved does that mean you no longer have to fight the timeshare folks???

Is it challenging to get from the Cancun airport down to the Coz ferry port? This possible hassle is what stopped me from using them on my recent week in Coz.

Hell no! Timeshare parasites are still there trying to take your vacation time (and money).

It is very easy. Once you pass through Customs there is a ADO counter where you buy a ticket to the old Playa bus terminal (5th and Juarez). Nice big modern bus that takes about a hour. From the bus terminal it is about 150 yards to the ferry terminal. ADO just went up on the price to 90 pesos. The best way to get to Playa from the airport and I think that you get a discount on the ferry if you fly VA.

Hi Dan! We booked with them for a trip next year. Are you more worried about service and skills or aircraft maintenance? All of the above? We arent flying until May so wont be able to give you an opinion for a while..
