I'm retired and like to go to Pt. Lobos during the week. I always carpool down with my buddy, usually from my club. I only want to dive one tank, plus I go slow to video. If anyone is interested, let me know. I've got over 500 dives logged. I'm in north San Jose. I'm available tomorrow, Thursday.:D

Update. There seems to be some confusion about a one tank dive. I only dive one time with one tank. Sometimes a buddy I go with may wish to dive twice. THey can often find another team to buddy up with while I wait.

I know this is a ways off, but I'll be in Gilroy on February 15 and would like to dive Monterey during the next week. I have about 75 logged dives some in the cold waters of Colorado, but most in the warm Caribbean.

Do you have any preference on the day? I may be able to make it on Monday the 17th. If so, I'd want to dive Point Lobos.

I would be available on the 17th. I have zero experience at Monterey so I don't know the dive difficulty there.

If you have cold water experience, which it sounds like you do, you will be fine.

The entry and exit is very simple, all done at a small boat ramp. It can be a little slippery, but not too bad.

I find it to consistently be some of the best shore diving in the Monterey area.

Just some advise.....Monterey diving is worlds different than diving warm water like in the Caribbean....Monterey is very cold 52 and colder I have seen it as low as 35 degree's, there is current, low viz, extreme depth in some places, could be surge, waves, kelp, 7mm exposure suit, hood, gloves, booties, cold water fins and lots of weight and that's on a very good calm day.....if you have only been diving in warm water you most likely are not ready to dive Monterey....maybe you could do a day lesson with an instructor that would be a great plan. People have been injured and or died thinking they can only dive warm water and transition to dive Monterey with out any specific training. Rule of thumb if you can dive Monterey you are a very good diver and will not have any problem sport diving anywhere in the world....if your still not sure at least talk to a responsible dive master or instructor in a Monterey dive shop...suggestion DON'T dive Monastery Beach aka (Mortuary Beach).......Good luck.

Although I understand your concern, he had stated on another thread that he dives cold water, 7mm wetsuit in Colorado.

So not the ocean, but at least he has experience in the correct gear.

If he buddies up with a diver who is experienced and safety consious, he should do just fine.

Point Lobos would be an excellent place to start. Entry and exit from a boat ramp, in a well protected cove.

Execute a couple of simple dive plans, excellent day.
