Good idea, but there will be no empty battery case for the D630. The battery connection design is different from D620.

It is still in testing stage and will be public release in May. Sorry the PRP is not available at the moment. Pls keep attention. Thanks!

That's a shame to hear, I don't understand why it wouldn't be possible to manufacture an empty cage for users to put their own batteries in. Even if it resulted in reduced burning time (due to imperfectly balanced cells), it would put the D630 way ahead of your competitors (such as Halcyon or Light Monkey) as it would allow users to very quickly change the batteries, using readily available 18650 cells.

If a empty battery cage (based on the current D630 powerbank/battery pack format) was released as an optional extra, I am 100% sure you would gain a substantially larger amount of interest from the technical diving community (especially the expedition/caving communities).

The D620 has already proven a massive success in the technical community, and the D630 could be so much more if it kept the same ability to change batteries.

Either way, I am very much looking forward to this torch being released and I cannot wait to dive it!

I reached out to OrcaTorch via their website and the response was:

Hello Paul,
Thanks very much for contacting OrcaTorch!
The D630 light are planned to be released in late June, you should be able to buy it in Canada in middle July.
May I know how do you know the D630 model?
Thanks & Regards,

Yeah I am waiting with bated breath for mine too...

Hi @all, the OrcaTorch D630 finally comes out. We know a lot of customers have been looking forward this model for a long time, thank you for your patient.

OrcaTorch D630 is a perfect canister dive light for cave diving, wreck diving or similar technical diving activities. The light delivers up to 4,000 lumens, and its angle adjustable cable allows both 90°and 180° rotation between canister and light head. This makes the OrcaTorch D630 perfectly suited for both side mount and back mount diving. Its large-capacity battery pack provides up to 5 hours of excellent diving experience at the brightest mode. The battery pack can also be taken out and used as a power bank.

Sorry to tell you we use the battery pack for D630. Imperfectly balanced cells is a common cause of failure and short time running. It is no problem for D620 with 4 pcs 18650 batteries. But it will be more difficult for 8 * 18650 cell matching and balancing than for 4 *18650 cell matching and balancing. All the batteries in the battery pack are matched and balanced in the selected capacity and impedance so that they are consistent regardless of charging or discharging and will be more stable. That's why we chose a battery pack with 8 *18650 batteries for D630. Hope you can understand.
