So sorry to hear robint! Bad news to begin with, and knowing it meant you would have to cancel your trip...DANG! 
I hope you heal quickly from the surgery, keep us posted. You know...I hear swimming is excellent rehab therapy for knee surgery. Maybe the trip's not cancelled just postponed!
