Is there any particular computer that DIR endorses?

According to the DIRF book, a Bottom Timer is the only endorsed computer.

The Uwatec Digital is most commonly seen on thier webpages. The only "computer " endorsed is a Mark 1 organic with a similar back-up(buddy).

GUE is big on the one between your ears. If you are going to use a computer for recreational diving (I do), and you are going to move into the DIR system and eventually technical dives, you might want to get something that also has a gauge mode. My buddies and I all have Suunto's (vypers and vytecs) that, when in gauge mode, are just like the Uwatec bottom timer (depth, dive time, temperature, max depth, and tracks ascent rate).

I have a Bottom Timer and love it - however, how do they calculate their deco time, stops, etc then?

...and decoplanner. They also use a lot of standardization in their mixes, so when you dive that way for a while you start to memorize which mixes for each depth, what switches, what stops, etc.

Palms or PCs. Either running decoplanner.
