Was diving off the coast of North Carolina and saw this little guy. The body was about 8 inches long, dark brown with dark bands, scaly and a long nose. Any idea what it is? Sorry about the poor pic, but the viz was only about 4ft.

Could be a Pipefish ,they are related to the Seahorse.There are many varieties hard to tell from your pic which it might be.
