Your post and other responses as well are so appreciated. In my 15+ years of diving I never saw such a thing. "Diamond Squid" egg mass I guess it is (would love to see a diamond squid now!). I was so lucky to see this and am so happy to share it with everyone here. Next time you think a big clear plastic garbage bag got snagged on the reef and you fin over to pull it away and dispose of it you may be very surprised at what you find... I know I was! Simply incredible.
