Some of the skills I practice during my 3 minute safety stop are:

Buddy breathing
Taking off and putting my mask back on

Anybody else have another suggestion for things to do during safety stops?

rock, paper, scissors works when you're really bored.

Grab onto a strand of Kelp and see if you can find any critters to watch... I haven't tried it yet, but it is supposed to be fun.

I don't think we are talking about stops where there is stuff to look at. I assumed we were talking about open water stops, where all there is to look at on the safety stop is water.

Oh, and if you need to "grab onto a strand of kelp" then you would be better using the time at your deco/safety stop to refine your hover/buoyancy skills IMO

1. Valve shut-down drill.
2. Center-of-gravity practice = change your trim angle and body position by where you hold your legs, arms, head.
3. SAC = concentrate on improving your slow easy breathing.
4. Back-up kick practice.
