The problem with most of the features I could come up with, and that other people have listed, is they would all make the regulator more bulky and add failure points.

What I care about with a regulator is:

* Minimal bulk
* Flexibility (especially with sidemount)
* Reliability
* Breathability

However as far as unicorn-features, that I have no use for (because I don't dive winters), the other day I wondered if there are regulator-heaters, to prevent freezing in very cold waters.

It would need to do pleasant things to my SACk
It has only one job, which is to blow.
A rebreather!
Exactly.

Same same, except in reverse order with serviceability also added high on the list.

Hmmmm.... the spot price for gold is about $1947/oz. In that case, I'd like my $2500 regulator to have a 2oz solid gold faceplate that is easily removable. :)
Now I want to dive into a flooded mine and go prospecting for my fancy faceplate

I didn't mean to order, it, but if I was to do so:
  • Reliability
  • Breathability
  • serviceability / cost / maintenance factors
  • Flexibility (especially with sidemount)
  • Minimal bulk
