I was told by one local shop owner that it was there to slow down any corrosive action between the tank and valve. It seems that the brass ring would attract the corrosive salts before they had time to attack the tank or valve. Of course I knew better. It was put on to attract the $20 bill that was still in my pocket. I did let him get a visual on it but that was about it.

Aren't most tank valves brass under the chrome plating? Sounds like a scam to me.

I think after his encounter with the LDS Lead_carrier had one leg longer than the other.

This guy is a trip. He'd sell his mother with a no return policy if he thought he could make a buck at it.

I know this is a old thread, but does anybody know where I can get these online? Tried searching but didn't have any luck.

I would like to leave my tanks in their rack on my boat when traveling and I think this would be enough to stop a thief, or at least a lazy one.

Thanks,
Austin

Yes, old thread, but to answer your question, I get mine from Piranha Dive.... (chrome plated or SS, can't remember). I too use them for anti-theft as well as a way to secure on the boat and in the bed of the truck....

This seems interesting to me. I have not noticed any of these rings before. Anyone have a picture?
