i think it depends on the type of WA you want to do...big sea fans/coral vs. wrecks/big animals

How about wide angel 16mm to take picture of soft coral around 5meter in front of me, will the inon z240 able to light the whole picture? I am also thinking of getting the new sea&sea d1 strobe, it has bigger GN power compare to inon z240 (32 vs 24). I don't have the cash to spend on 2 strobes, so 1 strobe setting is what I am planning to buy. Please advise

i use one strobe, z-240 but i mainly shoot macro or close wide angle 1-2 meter away.
you will want two strobe for 5 metres but you can sometimes get away with one if setup well.
this is single strobe:

Thank you for the upload. The 1 strobe setting shoukd be ok for me. I am going to wait for the d1, it's still not available in my part of the world.

Good wide angle shots are combinations of natural light with the strobe. The strobe lights up the foreground subject and natural light does the rest.

Hi guys I finally went with dual Sea and Sea YS - D1. The ttl seems to be excellent out of water, I have not try it underwater. Hopefully will be diving soon.DualStrobe.jpg

I am using the cheap MK sony nex 5 housing 18-55. It is compatible with the macro 30mm.

God, I'm coveting your ass right now! :blessing:

Personally I can't decide whether to dream about a strobe or a WA lense for my S95.

Superganijin, I personally will go with strobe rather than WA lens. Strobe brings vibrant color to your picture. You will like your photo more than you ever before.

Go for a Sola Dive light 1200 even better and more versatile

coral girl, how was the diving with this housing, I am also planning in buying a housing for my nex 5n, perhaps.
