Did a night dive in a quarry Friday night, then Sunday did a 30m simulated deco dive for my Tec Deep Diver course followed by a shallow (10m) quarry dive.

The course dive went well - very cold at 30m but managed all the skills and deco stops OK.

Saw a huge pike and an enormous school of small bass on the second dive.

did two cave dives yesterday:

74 min and 67 mins both same system, different tunnels

Went spearfishing about 35 miles west of Sanibel/Fort Myers Beach. Had amazing vis- almost 50 feet. Saw huge loggerheads and every tropical one can imagine. Brought home many hogfish. Had a fight with a baracuda while doing safety stop. Baracuda went home happy with three mangrove snappers. Baracuda 1, Matt 0.

I did a couple of wreak sites in Gibraltar. 15m max, nice easy dives. I saw a Trumpet fish, which was cool...

Went to Catalina on Saturday. Dove with some guys from N. Cal and had a good time. We missed the wall, but had good dives anyway. Vis was about 40 feet, and water was 64. Also, met a guy who lives in my neighborhood on the ride back. Looks like I found a good local dive buddy.

Typical weekend in So Cal...Great looking clear day and crappy shore diving conditions...4 foot waves, rumors of 6-8 foot vis..."Drove Down and Turned Around".

Should have gone to Catalina....

Went to a quarry for my open water certification. Going back this weekend to work on buoyancy control. I also had an issue with water seeping in around the nose. I don't know if maybe I was breathing through my nose a little without realizing I was doing so. Otherwise I had a good experience in the open water for the first time. It's a little unnerving with the low viz though.

I went to the Blue Water Quarry in Birmingham saturday. It was my first trip there and I really enjoyed it. The people were great the visibility was great and it was a really fun trip. After arriving home from Iraq friday morning Blue Water was right up my alley, and I must say it was reall great to be back in the water. I will definately be back soon.

I went on saturday for the padi "Aware" clean up at sheboygan jc's quarry, met a new buddy and found a penny!!!!:D

<----- that couch was found in the quarry too!!!
