Where else can the Canadian Broadcasting Company conduct a search for the name of the greatest Canadian...

and number 21 is the "Unknown Soldier"

Bobby Orr (19) almost beats Shania Twain (18)

Stomping Tom Connors (13) beats Neil Young (14)

almost in the top ten is a rebel that Canada hung (Louis Riel #11)

And the top ten consist of

Three Prime Ministers (Sir John A., "Mike" Pearson. and P.E.T.)
One Hockey Player (The Great One)
A coach that never won the Stanley cup (Don Cherry)
Two scientists (Banting, Bell)
The inventor of Social Medicine (Tommy Douglas)
A one legged runner (Terry Fox)

and a hippy tree hugging environmentalist who Canada locked up during WWII (David Suzuki)

And just to make your day Bret "the Hitman" Hart (39) did beat Avril Lavigne (40).

And Tim Horton was #59 Time for a coffee.....

I love this country!

I'm surprised this one is so low on the list. :D

<LOL>

I also notice the network seems to be running the show over and over

No, no, they're doing some sort of Canadian Idol thing. They ran up to the top 10 on the weekend and now they are do separate shows for each of the people in the top 10. You can call in & vote for them and some point they will announce who won.

Just remember this is more an indication of the demographic that uses the internet. I mean really, Avril Lavigne???

This might be fun for a game. Who would you pick for the top 10?

A couple of my picks in no particular order would be

Margaret Atwood
John Molson.... :)
Edgar Dewdney
Simon Fraser (although not technically a Canadian, i guess, but he stood for something that all Canadians can identfy with)
and Maybe Pat Morrow.

Any one else?

R..

and my buddy from Victoria... "Ken the hairy Bast*rd" and his buddy "Annoying Pete" (or was annoying pete an Australian?? I can never remember)
