I just don't log dives
After having my BC stored for few months after doing some salt h2O dives the fill button on my BC had a little leak. I completed a couple of dives by orally inflating but had planned for a few more dives the following weekend. I put some fine gun oil on the button and down around the seal and it solved the leak problem. I was wondering if this is something I could do as maintenance for storage or will it hurt the rubber seals?

I would suggest you get the BC to a tech and have the inflator completely dissambled and cleaned. Petroleum based lubes are bad juju for most orings and rubbers used in dive gear.
