I'd look hard at a used Dive X Sierra. Huge installed base, robust supply of spares, fairly light weight, and quite capable. Replacement / built batteries available from Rabbit tool. Basic consumables like seals and Orings readily available.

$1000 isn't going to buy one, but they do hold their value.

Good luck with whatever you choose. Scooters are big fun.
