Looks like AMLO is still trying to nationalize the port and limestone quarry at Calica (on the mainland but still part of Cozumel) from Alabama based Vulcan materials.
When he attempted to seize it March the folks from Cemex were part of it. Suspect Cemex will get the mines and the pier will become a cruise ship port.

 
Most likely will effect the east coast but if it hits it will still suck. At a certain point if it gets to thick turtles can't make on or hatchlings off the beach.

Do we even know that it is new? Maybe sargassum has been clogging the beaches at times for thousands of years?
