It's getting that time of year, and it seems like all the dive sites are closing up for the season. Are there any sites that are open between October and April in the Chicagoland area? Willing to travel to nearby states as well (Michigan, Indiana, etc.). I'd rather not have my feet dry until Spring.

Wazee doesn't freeze over until January most years.
Mermet springs is a drive, but open year round with heated changing rooms

Bonne terre is another option. Expensive af, but a fun experience.

Gilboa Quarry in OH is open year round.

White Star Quarry in OH is open through the end of the year (no fills on site).

I've only got up to my AOW and Drysuit certs, but I'm extremely tempted to learn cave diving just so I don't go insane if everything freezes over.
Wintertime is WI cave diving season!

🤣😂

OMG

I justed checked the HP of the Gilboa quarry.

Is rental equipment always that expensive in the US???

It’s an inland dive site. Gilboa is known to be expensive, but they do have nice facilities.
