Status and caption under name

Is the status rating based on the number of posts one has? Also does that change the caption under your user name? Thanks

Exactly right. The number of posts dictates the automated user "caption".

You can also set a Custom User Title in Edit Profile in your User CP.

At least you can if you're a Supporting Member....

Which explains the "Registered Troll" title.

Several (private) user groups may give you a specific user title as well.

You can be a "registered troll" if you are part of "Jep's Bridge" consortium. It's easier to keep track of them this way. (Did I just say that out loud???)

Custom titles are for those who have become supporting members or are a part of a user group that allows for them.
