nude diver, i feel your pain.

i got the joke the first time i read it, and thought that the others were being sarcastic in their responses, right back at you. but to find out that they were actually being serious, just makes me question the intelligence level of some. sorry guys, i don't mean to be ugly, but it was an obvious joke. it really surprises me that they just couldn't seem to catch it, even when you wrote

whoooooosssssssshhhhhh

after one of your post's. humor doesn't seem to be their strong point.

Hey... is someone playing a joke around here? No fair.

you men are so silly.

@porsc: I am curious, how did the divers whom you refused to take out demonstrate an inability to dive safely? Had you taken them out once before and seen them behave in a dangerous manner?

I once had a student who had no arms or legs. I could see immediately that he was probably unsafe. He was really upset when I refused to let him get certified. And he just saved a lot of money by buying his hood from LP. How did I know that he was probably unsafe even though I had not seem him dive previously? Excellent question. I just figured it out when he asked me to help him put on his mask. And he was dangerous too. After I denied him services, he threatened to butt me.

"I went diving with a guy who had no lungs - he swam like a fish?"

Somehow I get this image of Emo Phillips ... "I used to be a very good swimmer. But then ... you know ... evolution?"

This was a very interesting read. I have CKD. Early last year I got very sick. In July I had a massive operation to save my kidneys. They had to cut me in half...from my belly button to my spine, all the way around. I now have limited feeling below this scar on my right side. They are pretty certain that I will probably not regain that feeling. I am not as strong as I was before however I am youngish and fit. I learnt to dive after the operation. I did so because I have always wanted to and the events leading up to this showed me I don't have forever and if I want to do these things I have to do them now. I found a fantastic LDS. I have a great instrutor. I am sure that there are some people who may feel like the OP when I am on a charter, but I alway dive with my own buddy and almost always with my original instructor. This is because I am not strong enough to walk around fully geared up. I gear up in the water and if there is some chop I require help. If there is no chop someone still needs to get my gear in the water for me. I also need someone to help me out of the gear in the water and to get my gear back on board. When diving the only limitation I feel is that my right fin kick is not as strong.

I don't think my limitations should stop me from diving. I love it!!

Great attitude! One of my favorite dive buddies decided to learn how to dive a few years ago after a serious battle with cancer. We celebrated her 60th birthday in Bonaire a coupla years back ... she no longer has the strength to dive cold water, but put her in a tropical location and it's hard to get her out of the water. She's one of my role models ...

It was. How did you know? And I suppose that you knew that he was sick of getting hats for Christmas too?
