I would have to say funny for everyone else and rather annoying for me is that I am notorious for forgetting my weight belt. I still do it to this day. I ALWAYS do the buddy check and make sure everything is in order for me and my buddy but for some reason forget the darn weight belt sometimes.:dork2: I am a very safety oriented but dang you would have thought I would have learned by now.

It is a good show:popcorn: watching an unweighted cork try to sink.:rofl3:

Soon after being certified, an "undisclosed" SB member realized mid dive that I had only cracked my tank valve open by seeing my spg bouncing. So he twisted it "open" the rest of the way..until he saw me immediately giving an out of air signal to our third buddy! Unbeknownst to me he had reopened the valve and had his octo in front of my mouth but by then I was sharing air and giving an ascent signal..I've always double checked my tank valve since :D

Funniest thing that ever happened to me ... deciding one time to see what it would be like to do a giant stride off a boat in nothing but a fully-inflated drysuit ...

HAHA I bet you looked like the Michlin MAN jumping in:rofl3:. I am sure you had fun

I'm thinking he'd have been a giant fart, with all the air blowing out around his neck.

... I would never do it again without fins ...

Ah ha! the rest of the story!!!! :rofl3:

Stupid then, funny now.

With fewer than 10 dives, getting narced bouncing down to 120 ft, then shooting from 80 ft to the surface, all the while wondering why pressing the end of my flashlight while holding it over my head wasn't slowing my rate of ascent.

Still funny: tugging sharply on my buddies' fins when they're intently working a bug hole.

The funniest thing I ever saw on Scuba was when we introduced a friend to bugging. When we found out that he was a virgin bugger, I told him that he had to eat his first lobster wherever he caught it. "Underwater?" "Well, of course!" He didn't believe us until he went to the captain and asked him point blank. The Captain's response was epic!

On the first dive of the day, our buddy avoided lobsters like the plague. However, I got enough for me on the first dive, so I "helped" him out on the second. Within a minute or two of getting to the bottom, I found a bug for him to catch. The entire group saw him going for it and were all in a circle around him when he finally came out victorious. We started pointing to the lobster and then to our mouths. He shook his head and resolutely cracked the lobster open.

It was this point the entire reef descended on this poor unsuspecting diver. Trigger fish, damsels, grouper and even a moray joined in. He was swatting at them with the lobster which made it all the funnier. Finally, he threw the lobster halves to the wolves and got the hell out of there.

I laughed so hard that I lost my reg. It was truly, truly epic. On the boat we were laughing and giving him a hard time when the Captain came up. "You tried to EAT the lobster down below?" "Well, yes sir, I did." "Well, I'll have to report you to Fish and Game for a BIG violation." That just made it even funnier.

When I was in Cozumel July 09, there were a large group of us (14) and I was with the "advanced group" Our DM lead on all the dives. He was dilligent that we all follow him and was observed counting divers behind him. So on the last day we were all trained like children to follow him. That last day was Palencar reef so we were following and gawking around. I noticed I only had 2 minutes at the depth the group was so I ascended about 15 feet above and behind the DM. When we got back to the boat at least 5 divers in our "advanced" group griped because the DM put them in DECO. WHAT?

The dumbest thing I did was after training for my Apprentice cave, we were practicing at Peacock. The plan was to do Peacock I to Olsen and I was excited to practice new skills. So I suited up and did a giant stride. Oops. New Drysuit, back entry. Yep - filled it up to the toes.

Fortunately with that nice, warm water all you gotta do is drain it out, zip it up and go. To my concern, P1 to Olson is worth the discomfort ... :D
