"Sorry to not be the "real deal", but I am still using the same kicks I was using in 1969."

Well there you go Doc- that probably sums it up. This is 2011-things have changed a bit in the last 42 years.

Yeah, but at the same time, I would also accept that someone who has been diving for 42 years, has a pretty good handle on what works for him. Perhaps it's not how you intended it, but your comment comes across to me as disparaging and condescending - not exactly a good impression to give of your company.

I respect that you believe in your product and wish to promote it, but your posts sound more to me like putting down those who don't use your product, rather than extolling the benefits and features of the product itself. You won't win my agreement by implying that I'm stupid or old-fashioned for not using your product. You'll impress me by respecting my choices, while encouraging me to consider the features of your product.

By the way, I work for a DOD contractor, large enough to buy your company ten times over without batting an eye. I've spent thirty years working on DOD contracts, and can say from real experience that contract choices are not always made on the merits of the product itself (*cough* Ford Aerospace Sgt. York *cough*). Government contracts are lucrative, but the real importance is in how well made the product itself is.

Dan,
Do you have any video of you diving with these fins. Do not think I would go that way but am interested in seeing them. Up here in Central New York our vis is pretty bad so sometimes a hard kick will put you head first into a wreck and that hurts.

Thanks
Kevin

First, if you only dove the BHB, the time that you would appreciate the freedive fins is durring tidal changes---you would find it fairly irrelevant to you, whereas for MOST of the regulars at the BHB, a large tidal change current means they will have a hard time going where they want to go.

Let me know if you want to try them....Your size 12 foot should fit if you use a low profile booty.

Thanks for the info and gracious offer !! .... I'll be out of town for a few weeks but may take you up on the offer when I return.

Regards, Bruce

Your in a course with one model type fins? If so; it's a rescue course likewise you will have to do with what there is It's a rescue course. You'll never know what you'll be faced with. I'd adjust as an experience. How if there is an option to get something else ask....

Have fun and enjoy! It's a great course...

Tell the instructor you have the money to pay for the course or buy new fins, but not both.

I am usually the one shooting the video.... I'll have to see about getting Sandra or Bill to video me on one of our dives soon. :)

I've been using paddle type fins (Cressi) since my OW cert in '07. I just did rescue last year with them as well. Last time I dove, I borrowed a friends Apollo Biofin Pro XTs and was impressed enough with them to have just ordered up a pair for my next dive trip to the BVIs. I got the steel straps as well.

Like most things, fins are a matter of personal preferance. Although independant testing seems to verify split fins using the "nature's wing" concept are easier to use. The caviat being the requirement that you use the proper finning technique to get the most out of them.

I'll let y'all know what I think after six days of repetitive diving with them.

Happy diving!

Now that's a good response.

It would be funny to see the instructors face if you said "Thanks to your advice I have purchased a new set of fins but now I can no longer afford to take your class".

It would be interesting to see his response. Might get the OP a good price on the fins too. One cannot have too many fins yanno.:D

Hope to see a post with some video and your fins in action. Watching your kick style and the DiveR fins at work should be instructive for us all.
