Keep in mind SCUBA gear isn't your typical main-street everyday wear. It's not an apples to apples comparison when comparing wetsuits to, say Kmart or Walmart clothing or any other high turn over clothing operation.

Some of you people sure get your panties in a wad over nothing.

and some shop owners have a wad in there Panties. But that realy has nothing to do with them asking $25 to try on some neoprene.

I'm not sure I understand your post. Just what is it that you think is "nothing"?

Add me to the list of those who would never pay to try on. I actually went into ScubaToys to try on hoods, and they didn't have the brand I wanted in the size I needed. So after "wasting" 15 minutes of their employee's time, I bought one online. :eyebrow: There is a small LDS closer to me, I buy my air and occasionally other things there. I was looking for a new BC. They sell one brand and have four models. I am sure they limit their selection to those because they are the "best". This "pre-selection" is not a service that I can get online.

It is a brave new world.

coin toilets in bus stations
coin air at gas sations
cion condoms in the bar bathroom
About the same thing as far as I see it

I find this very out of charicter for RAC. I was taking my OW lessons from them at the same time as this post and I bought my boots, mask, and snorkel, but I was unsure about fins. They let me try two different fins (cheap ones and $$ ones). After trying both of them on my first two classes, I purchased the $$ ones. It seems like the price and quality is similar to leasure pro and I have seen more complaints about them. They also told me they give you a discount on the service if you buy the gear from them.

In any case it is kind of odd that they did that, I am planning on buying a dive package from them. If after spending close to $3k at the store if they want to charge me for trying on a wetsuit, I would give them a piece of my mind. If I am going to cheap out, I will buy the cheap stuff that I don't care about i.e. slate, weights, etc.

I took my class around the same time as this post (last two weeks of June)

Have you done stuff with them before or purchased before? Maybe since I paid for the class, masks, boots, and snorkle they didn't charge me for trying out their fins.

If LDS's are having issues with people treating them like a fitting room they should charge a deposit where its 20 bucks to try for the day, you get that taken off if you buy.

If LDS are having issues being treated like a fitting room then stop selling wet suits. Dont gouge the innocent people who are making a reasonable attempt to find something they like. If I was going to buy batteries even and saw a 25 dollar charge for wet suits I would turn around before ever entering the store. Thats B.S. and nothing can justify hurting your best customers to make a point to those who are bad apples!

Do you really need me to spell it out?

My friend owns a successful dive shop and had a customer come in to try on a wetsuit. Well, after he got himself into it and back out, it was all wet and sweaty. The guy didn't buy the suit and my friend had to have it cleaned then put it on the sale rack. He lost money and I am sure the customer bought his suit somewhere else.

I think it is poor customer relations to charge someone to try on a suit, but maybe people who intend to buy
on-line could ask to try on a rental suit. Or maybe they could do the right thing and order a few sizes, try them on and pay for
shipping to return them.
