Really? Now that is interesting. Every 100cf air I have seen on the boat was at right about 3,000. The max fill is supposed to be 3,300. Maybe they just properly fill nitrox 100s? 3,500 is like a bonus.

I'm surprised nobody has questioned the accuracy of SPG's. Whose SPG are we to believe ?

I think Christi might have said in another thread she had some 100 that she owned. So she might well be able to provide 100 nitrox

Yes I own my 100's and I have some dedicated for Nitrox and some dedicated for air. 100's are not "readily available" for rental form the fill station - they rent 80's. If you want 100"s or 120's you have to dive with a shop that owns them - which are few.

Very, very occasionally, I will rent mine to another shop that calls needing them - of course only if my own divers have not reserved them.

BA had the tanks delivered each morning. To my knowledge, they don't have a fill station unless it is off-property. I had 3300 - 3500 psi in every tank.

BA fills their own tanks - they have an offsite fill station of their own unless something has changed

You are talking about 100 Nitrox right? All the 100cf air I have seen were rentals from the filler. The OPs need to order them early enough as they run out of them to rent when busy.

There ya go. That is what I thought. Which explains why the 100cf are properly filled. The big fillers always under-fill them. Thanks Christi.

Any shop can get nitrox. Lots of shops will pick up at Secrets. I use Living Underwater which has steel 120s for deep long dives with a small group. On one of them, the max depth was limited to 170', but I didn't get yelled out for going to 171' so I assume the rules aren't iron clad. That said, you may be limited on choice of dive site by whoever else may be on the boat and this maxim applies to all single-boat dive ops on the island. Some multi-boat ops try to match divers according to their skill level, but you still may not get to dive pretty much the way you want to dive unless you get your own DM and/or boat.

I think we were with you on that dive several years ago, Living Underwater, Maracaibo, you used Jeremy's octopus to decompress, right, because you ran low on air? As I recall you were staying at the Occidental Grand?
Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

I have been going down solo lately, last weekend and again next weekend and then for a week each month September thru December and I dive with Tres Pelicanos (yep a shameless plug). They fit your bill and allow me to dive as you describe. I am partial to Tres Pelicanos but there are a number of other valet / boutique operations that would fit your requirements and I suggest going over to the Cozumel sub thread where this has been gone over at great length. Have you considered a private DM? The end of August through October is the low season and there are a lot of good DM’s available and surprisingly cheap.

Gary see you in November, we second your comments re: Tres Pelicanos!

Back in March, Raul with Bottom Time Divers got me 100's with 32%. I didn't think to ask him if he owned them. It had been a couple of years since I dove with him, but it wasn't an option in the past.

I also like diving with Jeremy and LU. Will be doing so again in November as a matter of fact. Yeah the 120's are nice, as is the gear storage and The Jew Fish as well, but the main reason I dive with him, is he is just a great and unique individual.

Mostly correct. I didn't need Jeremy's octo, though. Had just enough air left for my 22 minutes of deco.

The reason I had so much deco, I realized afterward, was because we initially had a bad drop - the current was running the wrong way. I was already down to around 60' before Jeremy called the dive and we re-dropped on the opposite side. Apparently Suunto counted that as two separate dives with a very brief SI in between and punished me (and Jeremy) for it.

We liked steel tanks so much we just bought 6 HP 100's for the three us for local diving.

Can never have too much air.
