I am glad I never ventured outside my comfort zone ie Apeks!!!!
DRIS had a special offer last weekend for a complete set of DST + 2 x TX 50 for US$299.00!!!

Almost wish I hadn't too, but having said that I've learnt a lot from all this so even if I go back to Apeks I'm much wiser for the experience. I'm hoping once this issue is sorted that I'll love them as much as do Apeks.

It's put me out of the water until I get this fixed, over confident with my abilities to service, bought 6 G250s, sold all my Apeks equipment prematurely, hindsight is 20/20, now I'm stuck on dry land as have no functioning regs and have spent a small fortune on parts for the G250s. I will love SP, I will love SP even if it's just the G250 with a different brand, Apeks, diaphragm 1st.

Thanks Matt, I'll try as you suggested when I get them back. Using the original diaphragms I could draw air with the exhaust valve blocked off (couvs tip) using 2 new G250V diaphragms I could not. Both seconds have been rebuilt exactly the same using exactly the same parts given one is functioning as it should something is obviously different, the only thing other than the case and barrel that isn't the same is the old orifice im using so will get two from Bryan and at least eliminate that as a possible cause. I'll look at the legs and where they fit into the barrel more closely. In case I have stretched the legs too much and need to replace them is there a trick to fit them without stretching them?

And who says you can't learn to DIY over the Internet...yes, an expert on these regs I hope to be when all is said and done. Cheers to all.

If SP don't play nice re replacing the piston I'll get it back from the LDS and do it myself, may as well learn to fix a MK25 too now I'm so deep in.

If you had never tried you will never know that SP is a lot more tricky than Apeks. Nothing is equal in this cruel world.
You might as well try to fix the Mk25 if SP won't play ball.
Good luck mate.

Thanks.

I'm not sure that Apeks are necessarily less tricky in regards to 2nd stages, it maybe just that I've always had recent Apeks so a service was always just using service kits, I never had to replace most of the parts as I have with these almost 30 year old regs. I think having the additional micro adjuster helps to fine tune them though. Once I get new orifices I'll decide which is easier. Certainly servicing Apeks is a whole lot faster and less fiddly. I'm sure though the next G250s will be a breeze with what I've learnt from my first attempts. Time will tell.

Update. SP Japan aren't interested in doing anything about my from factory defective MK25. But they will sell the parts to my LDS, nice one. I'll reach out to SP over in their forum.

Failing that anyone want a new, in need of new piston MK25 EVO? I'm open to offers. Postage would be about $20 USD. Cheers.

Also have a lightly used, looks new, Oxycheq Mach V 40lb Extreme wing for sale. Perhaps 20-30 dives on it. Open to reasonable offers.

Seriously???

I don't care what it looks like. I have a camouflage 30 and that would fit in rather nicely as I'm refitting for single tank cold water diving.

Please email me with what you would like to get for it...
