Cool. That seems to completely contradict Landon quoting kits at $52.50 when sending regs in for service.

I just went and read this entire thread. Nowhere in it does Landon say that we charge $52.50 for kits. Do you have a link to where he said that?

Cool. That seems to completely contradict Landon quoting kits at $52.50 when sending regs in for service. Maybe he was talking about if you had regs serviced locally instead of sending them in? But then that would contradict the part where he talked about sending them in for the free first service.

I'm confused about the costs.

Sorry if there is confusion. The cost of the kits would be your cost to order them if you wished to do so.

1) The first service is free, on us, IF you send us the regulator. If you choose to service them locally (via a non-affiliate), or own your own, you would need to purchase/order kits.

2) Service on a service plan includes free parts, and the labor is included in the plan as well. As stated earlier, standard service plans include return shipping to you, where as a premium service plan would include a call tag to cover shipping both ways.

I left out the cost on ours, because that depends on if you get it done locally, through us, or do it yourself.

Okay, let's make it simple. What are all the costs if I always ship my Deep6 doubles set regs to you for service and I do not have a service plan? For the first 5 years.

You keep mentioning the cost of kits, but Chris says parts are free if I send the regs to you.

You say shipping is $20 or less. Based on some things I have mailed recently, I am very skeptical that I can ship a doubles set of regs, with suitable insurance, for that cheap. But, it's fine to just include "+ shipping" in the costs you lay out. However, can you please specify whether I would be paying shipping both directions or if you are covering return shipping? (again, I'm asking based on always shipping to you for service and NOT having a service plan at all)

Ha ha!

At this point, all I am really looking for is an updated version of what Landon posted with the correct info on cost of ownership over 5 years.

He quoted a price for parts. You said parts are free. He quoted free for the first service but didn't include cost of shipping. I don't think labor was quoted anywhere yet I understand labor to not be free after the first Deep6 service.

I just want to know what is complete and correct?

I'll take your word for it that I personally won't observe any difference in performance between Deep6 Signature and DR XTs regs. What I get is that the difference will be in "feel", not any numbers that would mean anything in the real world. Got it.

Still curious about the full cost of ownership.

OK....

you want answers with many variables. Let's get some out of the way.

How many dives a year? if over 100 then you are at less than a two year service interval. Exactly how many so we can work that out to a timeline and work your 5 year TCO

Are you planning to send them in for service to us, use a local demo center/ind instr? If the first, we can invent a cost today, if the second, I have no idea what they will charge

We haven't put the service plans for sale yet. There will be two types, one that you can get a call tag for the shipping to us that will be more expensive and another where you pay shipping to us.

May I be frank? I'm really not so much wanting customers that are gonna pick us because they save $5 over the next cheapest they can find online. If the cheapest is the goal... have fun. We aren't trying to be

ok, yes, if you want to buy the kits and service yourself. Or as he said, if we service the kits are free

If you choose just to have us service your regs with no service plan, you pay shipping and any insurance to us. We will include the shipping back to you.

If you want a service price today, good luck. We don't have one. I do understand your long term TCO concerns however, maybe it's time we decide then post them

Understood. Hopefully you DO want customers to pick you for for a better reason than "Oooo! Orange!" :D

I think most tech divers are pretty detail oriented. I'm probably not the only one that would want to know all the details on costs (long and short term).

I laid out the question in my last post. Always ship to you for service. No service plan. Doubles reg set.

Add: Assume service every 2 years.

cost aside, if you think that the only difference between our reg and others is "orange" then we are obviously doing something wrong.

I take it that none of the extras like the hardcase/free service kits matter? The PVD coating on first, teflon on second stage barrel, turbo poppet in second stage etc?

Because if you want a close to generic OEM reg, get the DGX at Dive Gear express, DR and a few others
