I'm looking at the Dolphin Tech deluxe harness and their JT40 donut style air cell. Anyone have experience with these products or the company? Thanks in advance.

That harness looks awful, lots of unnecessary D-rings and padding.

That harness is only $60 on Ebay new so the only harm you would have is throwing away $60 if you don't like it. I would look at DGX single wing and back plate

Just curious - what caught your eye about this one?

Wanted something with a little more padding than just a plain webbing and something that would be easier to swap between warm and cold water backplates before and after travel. But it was about half the price of say a Dive Rite Transplate setup. I was looking at the Transplate, but the largest single tank wing it packages with is the Voyager at 35lbs. This wing is 40lbs which I think gives me enough margin for using it in drysuit diving. My vision is to configure this with an aluminum backplate for travel and then when back home for cold water diving, swap in a 6mm stainless steel backplate for added weight. The total cost would be on par with the DGX BP/W package, but it would have a heavier lift wing than the S1 and it would have some padding. I was also looking at the DGX setup but the S1 wing would not have enough lift for me to comfortably use it as a warm/cold water combined solution.

Ultimately you may find that the idea of swapping parts for cold or warm water to be much less ideal than dedicated rigs. 40 lb lift is likely to much (read more than needed, I use a VDH 35 for cold drysuit diving) but it will work ok.

I’ve recently switched my warm water rig to an Aqualung Outlaw with 12lb lift, haven’t used it yet but is really packs well.

I'm in the research phase right now and my mind is still malleable :)

I see on many websites that sell BP/W gear, they recommend not packing the backplate attached for travel but instead separating it in the luggage, I assume to prevent damage or wear between parts. I have no experience with that concept though. If that is true, if you come and go from travel and you're taking things apart, is it that much harder to just swap backplates at that point, especially if it's not a single piece of webbing? School me.
