    Cayman Brac

Hey Brown Mermaid - I think you and your crew were at Cocoview last summer when me and my son Mark and I were there - yes? :D We're from Chicago area too but we were on the Yellow boat with the the folks from France. Anyways, diving at the Brac is great! We did not stay at the resort but at a...

    Utila and Roatan/Sand fly protection

You can also try Jungle Juice at REI. I tried both Cactus Juice and Jungel Juice at Cocoview and both seemed to work well. Here's the link: http://www.rei.com/online/store/Search?storeId=8000&query=*&cat=4500560&vcat=REI_SEARCH :crafty:

Little Cayman, Cayman Brac, Grand Cayman, Bonaire

You may have opposing needs i.e. Little Cayman and Cayman Brac are great diving but not much to do topside. I've not been to Bonaire or Grand Cayman so can't comment on those. : :10:

    Need Utila advice

thanks for all the great input so far - and to answer the question, we're open as to all-inclusive or not--kinda depends on the availability and quality of restaurants--we've done both but would probably lean towards all-inclusive unless the food was just bad at the inclusive sites.

    Need Utila advice

We're considering a 1 week dive trip to Utila (Feb/Mar) and wanted to get opinions on accomodations, dive operators and of course on the diving. We're 4 guys more interested in great diving than great nightlife. We don't need super luxury but also don't want to stay anywhere that's too...

    Cayman Brac

Had a great trip to Cayman Brac in March of 2003. Stayed at the Cayman Breakers condos. Managers Nina and Robert couldn't have been nicer and the condo was immaculate. We had ocean view with balcony which was also nice for hanging dive gear to dry. Nice pool (which we never got to use because we...

    best film?

Also, best shots will be +/- 2 feet away from the camera -- anything a lot closer or a lot farther won't be as good quality- Good Luck!

Help aNewbie out with Sea & Sea MX-10

I used to use the MX-10 w/ ys-40 strobe and, I might be crazy, but I seem to remember being able to remove the strobe and hold it a few inches away from the camera at an angle to reduce the effects of scatter. Maybe I'm nuts but I'd at least try it before sinking another $100 into a cable.

Interesting idea for fighting high gas prices

I understand your concerns and agree but that's why I put it on the non-diving related forum. I also agree that this shouldn't become a political discussion - just thought it would be an interesting idea to get out there and, as an appreciative member of the scubaboard community, I thought...

Interesting idea for fighting high gas prices

I don't know if this would work but it's an interesting idea- any thoughts out there?? Sent: Thursday, May 27, 2004 8:24 PM Subject: how to conquer the gas prices - no joke - urgent read Subject: $$$ Gas prices A friend forwarded this to me...with gas prices going up and up...it would...

    Friday's (5/14) Maui pics - Molokini Crater

Gilligan - I've been wondering, how do you get out of the water and back into your kayak with all your gear on and without tipping over? I don't know much about kayaks but would think it's not that easy to get into one from the water?

Well I finally did it ................

Will the tray & arm fit a PT-010? Also, what strobes will it fit?

stuck in indecision: provo or grand turk?

Just to add my $.02 - Diving on Grand Turk is great BUT there is nothing to do there other than dive eat and sleep. I've been to Cayman Brac which doesn't have much else to do but the diving at Cayman Brac and Little Cayman was wonderful. I've not been to Provo but my impression is that it is...

    Cool destination needed for divers

We went to Cayman Brac last year but didn't stay at the resorts. We stayed at a condo and hired our own boat and DM - it was great! If you stay on the Brac you can go over to Little Cayman for some dives (weather permitting). Very laid back and relaxed. I will say that the dving around the...

After Diving for the day-what else to do in Cozumel ?

I agree with most of the posts i.e. usually just want to hang out at the pool, take a siesta etc. etc. but sometimes we like to break up the week by taking a day trip to the ruins at Tulum or some of the other sites on the mainland. You take a ferry to get over there. Enjoy!!!!

    Need advice/suggestions For Aruba

I agree with the other posts. Found Aruba to be more wrecks than reefs - so enjoy them for what they are. Definitely do one of the jeep tours that takes you to the hidden pool. Basically, you get to beat the crap out of someone else's vehicle for a few hours on rugged terrain and then give...

First OW dives, went to the Keys

the keys are a good place to "get your feet wet" and relatively easy/affordable. Now that you're hooked on diving you'll probably feel a freguent "urge to submerge". If possible, try to experience lots of different places like the Caribbean, the Pacific Islands, etc. etc. . You now know what...

Maui - Who to Dive With?

I dove with Ed robinson's this past summer and they do a very good job! You should make sure you're clear on whether you're booking a lower or higher DM to divers ratio dive as they charge differently for a lower ratio. Definitely go to Lanai and dive there as well as Molokini crater. The Maui...
