    Bauer Purus ???

I have a Purus. That's a good idea about getting old valves, if anyone has any they haven't thrown out. jv

    Bauer Purus ???

Does anyone know where I can get that special wrench for the 3rd stage, the one with the pins on both sides? I think the special wrench part number is KB 4555-645. If I can't get one, I can make one if I can get or develop an accurate specification for it. I would only need the exact diameter...

    DrySuit Identity ???

I saw that auction on eBay, and I think you got a good deal. i have the exact same suit in the same size. I bought mine on eBay in late 2002. The guy selling them bought them as surplus stock from a "famous maker." The company logo on the right upper arm had been obliterated. It came with...

How long should I soak the regs?

That's fine, except the issue is that the salt water would be flushed into the internals and hose, and then sit there to dry. Even non-ocean water that is hard is a problem. My house water is so hard, after repair/rebuild I final rinse in distilled water.

How long should I soak the regs?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned products like Salt-Away or SaltX. I wonder if they work, and are safe for all regulator materials. I find that a drop of household dishwashing detergent helps to know the salt out of everything. I try to rinse in warm water, at least a gallon for a...

How long should I soak the regs?

from: http://www.aqualung.com/technical_library/RgltrOM.pdf "As soon as possible after diving, the regulator should be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water while it is attached to a cylinder and pressurized with air." "Rinsing alone, however, will not sufficiently clean the regulator. To...

    Questions for Conshelf XIV fans

Thanks to all who replied so far! I guess it's just too big a question. Maybe I can be more specific in future info requests. I am interested in switching over to Conshelf XIV's from my current Dacor chrome plated brass setup. DA - thanks, you can leave the thread here or move it to Se...

Open pool time for practice/equipment check out in Massachusetts?

Does anyone know of the availability of open pool time in the Boston area for certified divers to drill, practice, and check out equipment? I have seen that some shops offer "refresher" courses, but they are in the $50 per session neighborhood. I want to refresh on my drysuit and mess...

    Questions for Conshelf XIV fans

Does anyone know when - what year, what serial number - Aqualung added the adjustment port to teh left side of the Conshelf XIV second stage? When did the decal become black? When did the name change from "Conshelf XIV" to "Conshelf 14?" What is the history of ports on teh first stage -...

    Leaking... How much?

I don't mean to hijack this thread, so please excuse; if it's digression, I'll delete it. I'm not sure I understand the first post completely, but I take it that among the design goals is to maintain the purifier pressure, in the name of cartridge longevity. Is this so? My perhaps simpler...

Service manual for Bauer P0 purifier?

The only manual I lack for my Bauer Purus/P0 setup is the service manual for the purifier. Does anyone know where I can download it? The reasons: a. broken filter cartridge spilled carbon inside - I'd like to know how the system goes together so I can thoroughly clean it; b. when...

    Infrequent drysuit user refresher questions

Thanks guys, I can see how what both of you are saying applies. Of course, I'd rather not replace the seals if it's not necessary. The wrists aren't bad at all, and it may be that I just picked up a little moisture while bleeding some air there during the course exercises. The neck seal, I'll...

    Infrequent drysuit user refresher questions

Great forum! I have a couple of questions for hte experts here. I took the PADI drysuit course three years ago. I have a neoprene drysuit with neoprene wrist and neck seals. Haven't used the suit since the course. The neck seal has developed wrinkles from storage. Are these fatal...

    Harness and backplate assembly question

(Sorry if this thread exists, but I couldnt' find mention of this issue). 1. I'm brand-new to DIR, "speculatively," since I haven't any formal DIR training. I'm thrilled to have found DIR, I'm completely on-board with the concept. I've been diving since '77, PADI. 2. I'm assebling my...

    Which SPG?

First, let me state up front that I'm not DIR, and I just heard about DIR for the first time within the last month or so. 'Though I received my diving certificaiton in 1977, I leave for a while but keep coming back. I'm usually disappointed to learn of the newest "developments" in equipment...

Neoprene drysuit repair and modification - Urgent request!

Greetings, I'm on a tight schedule, so I sincerely appreciate repsonse quickly so I can get my gear in order in time for my dive plan. So, question 1: The seams on my never-used, new-old-stock neoprene drysuit are taped, but the tape is coming loose in places, and completely off in other...
