A 2 mm full suit may be perfect as the water warms in South Florida. We offer a reversible (reef/open water) camo pattern suit made from Yamamoto neoprene. It is extremely flexible and strong. Freedivers will recognize Yamamoto rubber as a premium brand, while few scuba suit manufacturer's will name the source of their neoprene.

This is a fun thread , clearly everyone is different..... I don't intend anyone to be equal.

I'm never sure which is crazier...

  1. A poster asking strangers on a web forum if some or other exposure protection will be warm enough
  2. Strangers answering the question with any sort of certainty

:cool2:

Absolutely. But when you're retired it's something to do.

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it. I dive dry everywhere on the planet. Seen here in Truk three weeks ago. I think the water was 84F... but can't imagine doing 75-90min deco dives in a wetsuit.

Nice suit, at times I feel like as a non-spearing diver, wearing one of these camo suits is ... Not sure... Like if folks might judge lol

We just got back from the maldives. Water temp was 30C. This was our third trip diving there. The past two we dove in swim suits and rash guard tops. This time we took skin suits (0.5 mm scuba pro) for exposure protection. I actually got a chill a couple times on the second morning dive, but that was because of no breakfast and early dinner. Normally a half mm is fine for me.

OP--I hope you got the point that RJP made. There is NO correct answer to your question because every body is different.
I recently did 12 dives in New Calidonia. thermal protection was teeshirt/shorts for dive 1 and sharkskin/shorts dive 2
Yet every diver around me had 5mm suit -some even had a hood.
Im no superman but it shows the point.
