That video is really cool. Looks like the had a lot of fun.

I have to wonder though. I've never dove any wrecks at all but is it bad for them to be running around and climbing all over that ship. Or is it acceptable practice to do that? Just wondering, not criticizing.

The Vandy hasn't been done long. There is probably only a minimal amount of coral and such on it that could be damaged

It really depends on the condition of the ship. In addition to considering the damage you could do to corals or other creatures living on it, you also have to consider the damage that you, as a diver, could experience if a structure fell on you, if you cut your suit, skin, or equipment by snagging a sharply corroded piece of metal, the amount of sediment lying around that could be lifted up messing up visibility, etc.

The Vandenberg looks pretty solid and perfectly suitable for what they did here. On the other extreme, there's a Korean war wooden mine sweeper wreck -- wooden so that it would not set off magnetic mines -- around here (Vancouver, BC) that is totally falling apart. Conning tower and metal railing on one side in the sand, timber strewn all around. Penetration to that wreck is no longer advisable because of the precarious structural integrity. it just looks like the slightest disturbance will bring down the whole house of cards. Doing a video like that in this wooden wreck would be most unwise, IMO.

Very cool video, BTW, can't wait to show it to my 1 yr old boy and see what he thinks about it.

Go Spiderman!:D
