From time to time folks have asked where they can find a 'cheap' air compressor or even have asked questions about how to build one from parts. I have discussed compressors in detail on this board, particularly my Kidde and Stewart Warner portables. I have cautioned do-it-yourselfers because some engineering knowledge is necessary and of course, you are dealing with high pressure. However, I recently found a limited source of used military (UDT/EOD) compressors for sale. The seller has 25 of these gas powered Stewart Warner units, complete except for fill whip, and they are going for $1000 each. They appear to be 60's models. I can't vouch for the seller personally since I don't know him but this deal looks good and you may want to check it out.
