If Mercedes sets the dealers price, yes, but they're not that stupid.

Try to find out how many Mercedes dealer there are in NYC and if they would give a discount.

Gray Market goods are distributed in the United States without Aqua Lung's authorization, and may place the consumer at risk.

So if the box your product comes in is not handled properly before opening it is dangers? Why would I risk putting something like that in the water?

It's only a matter of time before Aqualung embraces the the 21st century like Scubapro has done.

Leisure Pro is NOT an authorized Aqua Lung dealer

Aqua Lung does not sell or provide products to Leisure Pro. We do not plan to sell, nor have we authorized any of our global authorized distributors, dealers or other customers to sell Aqua Lung products to Leisure Pro. We consider any Aqua Lung, Sea Quest, Apeks or Suunto products sold through Leisure Pro to be “Gray Market” goods.

Gray Market goods are distributed in the United States without Aqua Lung's authorization, and may place the consumer at risk. We do not support or provide warranty services for products purchased through Leisure Pro since we cannot determine if the product is new, damaged or used. You should be warned that consumers who have bought Aqua Lung products from Leisure Pro in the past have found out after their purchase that certain rights to warranties and other value added support benefits could not be obtained.

Utilizing our global serial number tracking system, we have documented evidence of products being obtained by Leisure Pro through unauthorized gray market channels. In these cases we have taken severe actions to cut off the source of gray market products. We will continue to take aggressive measures to prevent our products from being sold through gray market channels.

We are committed to protecting our brand image. We take great pride in our products and in the enjoyment our customers receive using our products. To support these ideals we sell only through a network of authorized distributors, independent specialty stores and retail partners. These are the organizations that provide the infrastructure so you can enjoy diving -- training, air fills, travel and equipment service. They employ professionals who receive up-to-date training on our products so they can instruct you in their safe and proper use as well as proper care and maintenance. Buying from an unauthorized source can put you and those who make the dive business possible, at risk.

Purchasing equipment from an Authorized Aqua Lung dealer assures you of receiving the highest quality equipment and customer service available in the industry today! The benefits to you are:

· 30 Day Satisfaction Guarantee

· Limited Lifetime Warranty on all Regulators and Buoyancy Compensators

· “Free Parts for Life” on all Aqua Lung and Apeks regulators

· 5 Year Limited Warranty on Suunto dive computers

· 2 Year “Free Battery Replacement” with Suunto computers

· Professional assistance in determining the right equipment for your needs

· Professional setup and instruction in the use of your Aqua Lung purchases

· Service and repair by Aqua Lung trained technicians

How so? Cheers.

So selling to LP is 21st century thing? Wow!

No, selling to leisure pro is not what the thread is about. We're talking about buying gray market products from Leisure Pro. Scubapro had taken the same stance as AL until recently.

It sounds to me like someone in the aqualung dealer network who can get away with very large orders was looking to have a very merry Xmas and to spread the joy to others. We should be thankful.

Gee..If aqualung cares sooooooo much about it customers and retail partners..why don't we ask them to explain their devotion to us here on the west coast of Florida. My family here owns three sets of Aqualung regulators and 1 of Apeks. My LDS just dumped the brand simply because of the way he was treated by the company in relation to their pricing policies (how come he see's their regs for this price online from an authorized dealer and he can't get that price}. C'mon Aqualung, quit the bullcrap, Its all about pricing and you know it. Thanks for leaving us high and dry here in west cental Fla with no close by authorized dealer,,and don't even mention that bozo in New Port Richey..Thankyou A happy customer (NOT)

It's a business method. It goes like this: "Hey Mr. Dive Shop Owner...we don't allow anyone to discount our products beyond certain amounts so if you sell our brand you won't have to worry about price competition from the shop down the street or the internet. Plus, in order for your customers to maintain a warranty on our products, they have to bring their stuff in every year for 'service' or 'inspection' guaranteeing you an ongoing profit stream and an opportunity to make additional sales. Just think how much you can make performing annual inspections and service on BCDs. If you want to sell Brand X you will need to offer some sort of value-added service to compete with the discounts offered by online merchants and once you make the sale, the customer might never need an inspection of his BC or might service his reg himself or take it elsewhere, and that is money that should be in your pocket..."
