I experienced computer failure a few years ago while on a dive, and as I only have a mini SPG for a console, I was without depth readings the rest of the dive. This prompted me to buy a wrist mounted depth gauge which I stick in my B/C pocket. On ebay it was about $20. I also wear my $5 Aquatech watch from Walmart as a back up timer. On relatively shallow dives, I will strap it on and forget the computer.
