I currently have the Pelican Recoil as a backup. It does ok, but I am constantly nervous about unscrewing it a smidge too far and flooding it. The shape is also not nearly as nice as the PT or Scout, and the attachment point sucks by comparison.

For those on a budget (they're only about $40, IIRC) it'll get the job done. For me, it's getting the job done while I wait for the right time to buy a PT, at which point the Pelican light will be great for around the house.
 
Seems that everyone loves the PT. How bright is a PT in comparison to the light I use for my main... a Princeton Tek Shockwave LED?

I can't speak for everyone, but I suspect that most of the people who buy the PT aren't likely to have the Shockwave around for comparison.
