Hi all,

I'm visiting from the UK in August for 2 weeks as a friend of mine is getting married in Oahu. I'm considering bringing my rebreather and getting in some hours. I've been doing some research online and there's not a huge amount of recent information about CCR diving on the islands. I even saw that one of the top ranking places, Honolulu Scuba Company, is up for sale. Does anyone have any recommendations or should I just skip diving?

Don't skip diving..there are some good dives. Maybe just do AL80's on some of the sites like the Sea Tiger, North Shore - shore dives....

Hopefully others will chime in for some other recommendations.

Somehow I didn't get notified of your reply. Sorry about that. Thanks very much for the guidance. Much appreciated.

I am the owner of Honolulu Scuba Co, and yes it is for sale! We have a keen inspo diver working for us, but no instructor at the moment. So it is true we haven't put much effort in. The community of rebreather divers on Oahu tends to go around dive shops as much as they can. Try the Oahu CCR FB group. Dives break out there occasionally. Aarons Dive shop has the occasional sorb keg, and we can fill o2 bottles and do clean air. We'll also let rebreathers on the boat if you are respectful of the OC timeline. Hope this helps.

Thanks very much for the reply. Heard lots of great things about your business and I'm sad to hear you are moving on. All the best with that though.

I'm try the FB page as you suggested, thanks for the heads-up on it.
