Blew my mask off my face...how the!??!

Funny enough, yesterday I had one of my students starting the descent with the mask strap off, hanging above her head without her realizing it! She had a small leak but the mask stayed on her face due to the pressure and her not equalizing it.

What happened is that she started the dive with the strap high up on behind her head and when the hood started filling up with air lifted it even higher and made it come loose.
 
When I equalize my mask I always use a free hand to support the seal on top of the mask to ensure the pressure will vent from where the water is. I suppose this would stop my mask from flying off even if I got over zealous.
