Is the superior just off the bank from Riffort on the Otrabanda side? That would be between the cruise ship dock and the entrance to the bay. Or is it in the middle of the entrance?

We'll be building a new hotel / casino right between Riffort and the ball feild / cruise ship dock, on the Ocean front.

Hi Tony,

Yes, it's in Otrabanda but not right at Riffort. If you're looking towards the ocean, the Superior lies just to the right of the cruise ship dock. The entrance to the ocean is difficult there, it's over big rocks. We went in at 11:06 and going in wasn't too bad. By the time we came out at 11:34 the waves were much bigger and getting out was rough...

I'm delighted to hear you'll be building a hotel there - it's great to see how diving has developed and is bringing great tourists to the island. I lived in Curacao for many years and my dad still lives there....

We're flying down Saturday morning and will dive a bit Sunday, then meetings Monday and Tuesday and finding housing and setting up office, ect. but I'm sure we'll do some dives on the Superior.....sounds to good to pass up. I guess it's kinda hairy if you don't know the cruise ship schedules! Thanks for the info.

Good luck on your trip, sounds exciting. I believe that there are restrictions on diving the Superior Producer since 9/11. I don't believe that you can dive if there is a cruise ship parked at that pier, check with a local dive shop first. Also, I have been told that the earlier in the day you dive it the better, less waves and surge. I opted not to do the dive from shore due to the rough looking water, my husband and another guy did it and they did have a hard time with the surge while trying to do their safety stop. If you want a great dive close to town, do Vaarensin bai, aka, the police beach. Small entry fee, but easy entry/exit and beautiful in both directions.
