.......That's not the way most use it-ie most (these days would)say(example) 'had me that diopter over there.'-meaning 'hand me that macro lens over there.'..........AND, 'in the optics world', WE use it as THE power of a spherical(either convex or concave) or cylindrical lens---have no idea what you mean by 'used for the lens itself.'.......Please explain to me what you mean by that latter quote...The term Diopter is typically used for describing the magnifying power of a lens
