Untill I started wearing a t-shirt under the undergarment, I used to be bothered by the undergarment zipper being pressed against my chest.

Only really an issue on longer dives.

Breathing at depth is also additional stress on the chest, you are exerting additional strain on all tissues and bone structures associated with breathing, and may just be feeling some discomfort from the work of breathing. Z
