I am planning a trip in Feb to Hawaii (6 days) and I was wondering what island you would choose for the best overall diving if you did not want to travel between islands.

There will be 3 people total; 1 person looking to dive everyday and the other 2 will be diving, golf, ect... Love to UW photo big fish and wrecks.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have done a lot of reef diving so either wrecks or big fish that i could photo.

Oahu is known for its wrecks....Big Island for the manta dives...maui is know for the crater....every island has something going for it :D

I'd recommend the Kona Coast of the Big Island. If you're looking for big animals, IMHO the manta ray night dive there simply can't be beat http://www.jacksdivinglocker.com/charters2/mantanight.htm. Some people reported seeing hammerheads off the Big Island also, but I wouldn't count on it. There is always a good chance of white tip reef sharks though :D. As far as I know, there's only one wreck on the Big Island, and you have to go to Maui for impressive wall dives, the mantas more than make up for that though. If you go to Hawaii, set aside a couple of days to do some land tours. On the Big Island I recommend the "valley waterfall adventure" by Hawaii Forest and Trail http://hawaiiforestandtrail.com/adv-waterfall.html. Take a guided tour of the Hana Highway if you're on Maui. Be aware that most land tours involve altitude changes, so it's a good idea to give yourself a day to off-gas before the tour.

I'm a Maui fan but I doubt you'd be dissapointed with any island.
