Cleaning tar off of fins?

Most any hydrocarbon fluid will clean the tar up. Paint thinner, lighter fluid ect. GooGone will also work but not as well IMO.

However,

carburator cleaner or brake cleaner works well too

while some brake cleaners may work, most (spray can) carburator cleaners are way too harsh for most plastics or rubber based fins.
 
Simple Green will work and wont harm the fins. Also try Goop hand cleaner, it is citrus based and seems to work really well on hydocarbons (i.e. grease and oil).
