Just to add to this point, some newer hoseless models and computers in general like the aeris elite can be updated (softwear) as algorithms change and improve so it won't become obsolete unless it floods....

BTW, sorry about your friend. May we all dive safely and with both skill and a little luck too!

Being able to upgrade as we do so much other computer equipment is an idea long overdue.
