Friends don't let friends book cruise ship excursions. Book them yourself; you'll save a bundle, and be treated like less of an idiot by the operators.

t!

This the best advice u can get. Boats that have contracts with the cruise ships will treat you very differently than those who do not. The boat will be overcrowded, everyone is in a rush, and they don't really give a crap if you have a good time or not because they have another 3000 people just like you coming in the next day. Other operators will give you much better customer service, because they have to sell themselves to get you to come back and dive with them. They will also typically be less expensive because they don't have to give a huge percentage to the cruise line.

The wife and I are on a carnival cruise starting the 26th of October and will be visiting the ports of St, Martaan, St. Kitts and St. Lucia. We would both like to dive all three days but if we do it thru the ship its gonna be about another $900.00 for the both of us. Anyone know if we can get a price cheaper thru a local shop and if so how about dropping the name so we can try and get things arranged before hand.

I was also wondering what would happen if she decides to go shopping and I go diving alone. Can you still get on a charter if its only one person?

Thanks for your help

So, how were your dives? I have a cruise booked for Jan29th, will be at St Kitt's Feb 3rd and St Maartten Feb 4th. Also on the Carnival Victory Cruise. Any info appreciated!

Hey esox, my wife and I just got off of this cruise itinerary this month so here's what I have you can see my review of Octopus diving in St. Maarten herehttp://www.scubaboard.com/forums/le...s-divin-st-maarten-recommendation-review.html

I will also be doing one for Pro divers in St. Kitts.http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/lesser-antilles/402560-pro-divers-st-kitts.html

These 2 shops were great and I would certainly go back with both of them.

We did not dive St. Lucia as we had heard a little to much negative for us to give it a try we just did a land tour, however I think we missed out on some good diving the tour we took was partially by boat and it went to the pitons I could see several great dive sites on the way and they were not crowded.

Any more questions just let me know.
