Where do you typically go where there is fighting? MY new husband would like to know....

Kimber

He seems already to be doing just fine acting the part on rec.scuba.

I'd hate to see this board lower to such depths of disgusting behaviours. At least on here people who disagree usually do so with a valid opinion and a point more often than not.

From what I've seen on rec.scuba so far it's a complete joke and a forum where people can be tacky and disrespectful to no limits. If people have enough time to talk trash incessantly, that's their choice. I'd rather spend my time DIVING and learning!

Interesting... Starting a thread on the fact that there is too much argument going on on the board. Obviously, you knew some would disagree, wouldn't you?

:D
Thanks for pointing out the plank in his own eye! LOL!!
This board has such great info - IMHO - that it's always worth a little particulate matter in the water. However, sometimes the "personal" attacks, rather than issue discussion gets a little trite. But then, I may have done this myself in the first sentance of this post!
Oh, well...

This board is very tame compared to most on the internet.

Oh yeah no it's not! I don't think you know what your talking about.

Just kidding!

I think things are very civil here - specially since the troll half of Jep has gone into hibernation. :)

Getting a feel for ones stance on an issue is very hard, when posting your point, others cannot read body language or hear the sarcasm in your response. I read a lot of posts and think "wow what an opinionated Ba*****". Then I imagine we are sitting on the boat and discussing the issue. I make a comment then the other guy makes a comment. If it is left at this, you come across as being opinionated and not willing to back down from your stance. But with a few more comments back and forth each persons points are clarified and everyone is happy, though you may not agree.

With a thread, don't read a post and think that the person has made their last point, ask for clarification or backup. This may help alleviate the feeling of an argument and turn it into a discussion.

That said, arguments will always happen.... thank god! Who wants to agree with everyone else all the time.

Personally, I am very glad to see all the different
opinions expressed here.

As a new diver, I am glad to ask a question or express
an opinion and see who agrees or disagrees with me
in order, based on my ignorance of the subject,
to see if I am headed in the right direction, or if my
first opinion might not be the best.

The views I seen on regulator choices has helped me
immensely.

Compared to the flame wars and trolls I see in some other boards and news groups, we're one big happy family!

Argument board?
I would like to say that this is one of the more civilized sites. And I hope it stays that way.

What does agitate me occasionally is a few of the DIR/non-DIR exchanges. Depending on the situation, dive objective, work salvage or warm water vacation, I frequent hooka, BC, or BP DIR. I think we should all be supporting safe enjoyable dives which are not all to the same template.

Of course I am used to the bantering of different camps like sailors and powerboaters. So how do I deal with that? I have both types, dive powerboats, and race/cruise vacation with sail, and consider myself a water enthusiast.

I even have come to enjoy PWCs on occasion. Get on, fire up, drop my IQ 50 points for a couple of hours, and they are a lot of fun.

If everyone would just stop resisting and assimilate we wouldn't have these problems:eek:ut:

There once was a man from Qatar
who decided to dive DIR
He said " I suppose, with a 7' hose
in porno I'd be a star."

God, it's good to be back! Thank you, thank you very much!:D

starting to wonder which this is. When I first started coming here there was lots of good info flying around. Now even the posts that start good, you hafta leaf thru all the BS to get back to the info.

Just my .02
I think you need to pull your head out of you a** and look around. This board is full of good information. Ya know if you pulled you head out every once in awhile maybe we could go diving. LOL
