I just renewed my DAN membership/master insurance today, added my son to both, he's a new diver and my daughter as a member [not a diver] for free, so she's covered under the TravelAssist [emergency evacuation coverage]. All for $114 bucks, priceless.

Now to check out D.E.P.P, just got a camera today :D

What makes DAN insurance better/worse?

I can answer the better part. The research. The research DAN conducts probably does more to keep you safe than any insurance policy when you consider that if you aren't a high risk diver and you aren't an idiot diver, you may never use your policy. The research, you do use and will continue to use it for the rest of your diving life. Not that choosing another insurance company is evil mind you, lol.
