G'day,

I've just taken delivery of a Suunto Vytec DS dive computer with Transmitter, Dive Manager software and USB interface.

I haven't installed and looked at the Suunto Dive Manager software as yet. But I'm wondering if it will be a suitable solution for me anyway.

Ideally I'd like to have a copy of my dive log on my i-mate PDA2k Pocket PC, as well as on my Windows XP based PCs. I believe there are dive logs programs for the Pocket PC, and ways to get the data from a Windows XP based PC dive log to a Pocket PC version.

My partner has a Uwatec SmartPro dive computer with the IR interface and Windows XP software. I'd like to import my dives that are on my partner's Uwatec dive log software into my dive log software.

Finally, I'd like to be able to publish my dive logs to my web site.

I believe there may be 3rd party commercial and/or open source solutions that will allow all of this to be possible.

I've also seen that there are some evolving standards for portable dive computer data exchange formats. It's possible an effective solution for me may need these.

Has anyone already been there and done this sort of thing and have a workable solution in action? If so, I'd love to learn about it.

Would any of you be able to comment as to which 3rd party and/or open source solutions you think are worth purchasing/downloading, or be able to share your experiences with them?

Best Regards, Lloyd Borrett.

I use Dive Assistant from www.blackwave.com. Customer support has been excellent, it imports a number of dive log formats from computers and has a pocket PC version. Publishing your dive logs isn't an option at this point that I know of, but if you request it, they will probably accommodate you! It also allows custom tables to be used.

 I use SharkPoint http://www.dreamdives.org over three years now and love it. It has a Palm, PocketPC and Windows companion and several dive computer imports.

Regards,
Frank

G'day,

Olaf van Zandwijk (see http://enschede.vanzandwijk.net/diving/) kindly gave me the PHP code he used to put his Diving Log database online. With additional help from Olaf, plus Sven the creator of Diving Log, and others, I've been able to adapt Olaf's code to suit my own preferences.

So now my logbook is online (see http://www.borrett.id.au/divelog/index.php), complete with dive profile charts where I have the data.

There are further enhancements I can think of making, but at least the basics are working.

Best Regards, Lloyd Borrett.
