Rather than using the knife to focus on the male characters disregard for procedures, it might be better to point out his obvious disregard for following instructions and lack of proper planning. You did point out that he had rust on the blade. What you did not note was him telling his companion they did not need to stay with the group. They therefore lost track of time and where they were. He also seemed to get most of his diving knowledge from, or was accused of getting it from, all the magazines he reads. The movie failed to acknowledge that the majority of divers obtain proper training and that most pay attention to dive briefings and follow recommendations. It's late and some of this is probably only my ramblings about the movie but I hope it helps. Good Luck, Jim
